      I personally have not tried to catch perch in the summer months out there, but I see a lot of reports that they are catching them at all the harbors. It can be tough to find a school, but when you do they're going to be pretty good size ones.

    Hey Jim i caught the heck out of fish then they shut off. They move to deeper water say 18 ft i use a crankbait that dives 25 to 30 ft just go super slow with a short line just ticking bottom can produce fish virtually all day long. The reason I didn't use a spoon plug the speed is too slow.

    Hey hope your doing well. I'm having trouble on deciding to buy a boat and motor I'm trying to spoonplug with my own stuff but never bout a boat and motor I've always just had to rent a boat in some places depending on were you live and a lot of places did not allow a gas motor on a lake. Then I moved somewhere else and where I live allows a gas motor but doesn't rent boat so I was looking to buy something that doesn't break the bank and gives me the trolling speeds so my question is I like the bass riders or pelican boats because the size it's not big but the motor is a question to will a 4hp work for the speed control I mean I know it won't go 10 mph like when don Dickson showed that clip but my thing is when I was trolling and catching fish most of the time I had 4hp on a Jon and going half the speed. If any is doing this combo I would really like some info cause I'm thinking about really putting a 5.5 HP motor on a pelican boat just so I have a little more speed to get to my fishing areas slightly faster and have speed control. Like for instance I'll give a idea there's a lot of pelican boats on fb marketplace and motors but the motors are vintage Johnson's like 30s and 40s but they are only 2-3 HP and heavy but I saw on the Internet and hankai motors there little bit cheaper but not hurt you back so what's the best way to go is any one trying this combo

    In the springtime even before the ice is melted they lower Castle Rock quite a bit for the springtime water flow. We didn't really have any a few years ago so last summer was the lowest the Wisconsin River had been in the thirty years my parents lived below Castle Rock. My boss fished an area on Lake Wisconsin that they called "the narrows" I think during the fall sturgeon season. It was where the lake first opened up at the northern end. He could tell by the riffles in the surface where to cast. He fished the lake for at least forty years. He caught a buffalo one time that was the state record at one time. He had the DNR boat weigh it and then threw it back because he didn't want to eat it so it was never registered. They beat his fish less than five years later

    If you show a fishing license, you can park for cheap at Navy pier, you just have to be out by 9 or 10. Summer used to be the best time for perch, but it seems like they have changed to a winter bite.

    Hey Jim I have a question regarding the boat! Before I stumbled onto the spoonplugging concept I had already purchased a Tracker pro 170. Now this craft has a steering wheel and I keep hearing about how a tiller is the only way to go. So there’s my dilemma, is it just out of the question to spoonplugg and troll structure with what I have?

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing 5 місяців тому

      I hate to say it,. but console steering is the worst for trolling to learn new structures and waters. It will greatly limit your control. 😞

    What rod/reel specs are you using? What weight line?

    • @StructureFishing
      @StructureFishing 5 місяців тому

      I don't think the rod/reel is that critical. I use my panfish combo and my walleye rod combo too. It can only be critical when they are hitting VERY light. Then a sensitive combo will work. My son uses an ice fishing rod when the bite is super light.
